How to make a border with dots

Hi, this is my first tutorial. I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm Belgian so I don't speak English, but I'll give it a try. I hope you will learn something from my tutorials.

So, let's start. What were going to make is a border made out of dots as you see.

First, create a new document. Size doesn't really matter, let's say Default Photoshop Size with a white background.

Now, go to channels and create a new channel.

Select the brush tool (foreground color should be white) and take a fat brush (100 px, hardness 0%). Draw a border around your image.

Next, go to Filter - Pixelate - Color Halftone, set radius to 8 px and press OK.

Go back to Layers and create a new layer. Search for a suitable background image and paste it onto that layer. Create another new layer a fill it with a color or a gradient. Make sure that your second layer is on top of the one with the image.

Next, go back to Channels and Ctrl+Click on your Alpha-channel. All the pixels of this channel will now be selected. Go to Layers and select the layer with the color. Go to Select - Inverse and press delete.

Now, we're going to add a glow to it with Blending Options. Select your second layer, right click and choose Blending Options. Go to Inner Glow and choose the following settings :

- Blend Mode : Screen
- Opacity : 75%
- Noise : 0%
- Color : something yellow, or other color if you want.
- Technique : Softer
- Choke : 6 px
- Size : 5 px
- Range : 30 %
- Jitter : 0%

We're finished ! I hope you've learned something and I will upload more tutorials soon!
Enjoy!
